EFFICIENCY WITH ALL-WEATHER CAPABILITY 2.0L MULTIJET II TURBO DIESEL ENGINE The new, efficient 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine equipped on the new Jeep Cherokee
features second generation, Multijet technology, is a four valves per cylinder and
double overhead camshaft (DOHC) belt driven engine. Fitted with 1600-bar common-rail
fuel injection system, solenoid fuel injectors and variable geometry turbocharger (VGT),
the new 2.0-liter turbo diesel produces maximum power of 170 hp at 4,000 rpm and torque
of 350 Nm at 1,500 rpm.
The 2.0-liter turbo-diesel engine will be also offered as a low-output version, producing
140 hp at 3,750 rpm and 350 Nm of torque at 1,500 rpm whne paires to the 6 speed
manual transmission.
The 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine also incorporates “Stop&Start” technology that
improves fuel efficiency and reduces CO2 emissions. 3.2L PENTASTAR® V6 PETROL ENGINE The new 3.2-litre Pentastar V-6 is the first derivative of the renowned 3.6-litre
Pentastar V-6, and benefits from the same innovations that earned its larger
displacement predecessor industry–wide praise for its efficiency, power and refinement.
This contributes to a refined driving experience with reduced valued of noise,
vibrations and harshness (NVH) and an outstanding balance of higher specific power
output (85) horsepower per litre) while delivering fuel economy improvements of
30-percent versus the outgoing V-6 engine.

Jeep® Active Drive I 4x4 system
Jeep Active Drive I features a single power transfer
unit (PTU) which is fully automatic and delivers
seamless operation in and out of four-wheel drive
at any speed. The system does not require any driver
intervention or feedback and is ideal for those who want
an SUV with an all-weather-capable 4x4 system that is
easy to use. Jeep Active Drive I offers balanced torque
distribution with brake traction control.
The four-wheel-drive performance results from a fully
variable wet clutch housed in the rear drive module.
The clutch supplies the proper amount of torque for any
driving condition, including slippery conditions,
aggressive starts and dynamic driving. Sophisticated
algorithms enable the system to contribute to the driving
dynamics while interacting with the electronic stability
control (ESC) system when approaching the traction limits
of the road surface.The rear axle disconnect feature only
engages the 4x4 system when necessary for improved

Jeep® Active Drive Lock 4x4 system
"Jeep® Cherokee Trailhawk® and its standard Trail Rated®
Active Drive Lock 4x4 system provides exceptional 4x4
capability. Jeep Active Drive Lock includes II includes a
two-speed PTU with torque management and low range
and adds a locking rear differential to provide increased
low-speed power when driving over extreme off-road trails.
In the 4-Low mode, the system locks the front and rear drive
shafts to ensure more power at low speeds and greater towing
capability. Low range provides a 2.92:1 gear reduction that
enhances climbing ability and offers outstanding crawl ratios
for severe off-road conditions.
The locking rear differential is selectable in any low-range
terrain mode, but will lock automatically when in certain
modes, such as “Rock,” to maximize tractive effort, which
the tire patch can support. Jeep Active Drive Lock is
standard on all Trailhawk models"
SELEC-TERRAIN® TRACTION CONTROL
All the 4x4 systems of the Jeep Cherokee feature the
Jeep brand’s renowned Selec-Terrain traction control system
with four modes (five for the Trailhawk model, which adds
the Rock mode to Auto, Snow, Sport and Sand/Mud). Selec-Terrain
allows the driver, with a push of a button on the Selec-Terrain
dial, to choose the on- and off-road setting best suited for
optimum performance on any particular surface and is designed to
optimize the four-wheel-drive systems for unsurpassed control and
capability. Selec-Terrain electronically coordinates and optimizes
up to 12 systems on any terrain providing enhanced vehicle control,
including: drivetrain control module, electronic brake controller,
ESC, transmission controller, powertrain controller and Selec-Speed
Control (Hill-ascent and Hill-descent Control).
The Cherokee Trailhawk has a solid, powerful look to it.
The skid plates, one-inch suspension lift, all-season tires,
aluminum wheels and front and rear tow hooks all serve a purpose.
All of the features tie back to being Trail Rated® – always ready
for almost any weather or terrain.
REAR LOCKER With the push of a button, Trailhawk® can electronically lock both rear wheels together for outstanding traction at lower speeds. The locking rear differential is selectable in any low range terrain mode, but will lock automatically when driving in certain modes, such as “Rock,” to maximize tractive effort at the tire patch that can support it.
SKID PLATES Trailhawk features skid plates to help protect its vital underbody components when off-roading.
SELEC-SPEED® CONTROL Selec-Speed® Control assists drivers with climbing and ascending steep grades. It includes both Hill Descent Control and Hill Start Assist. Selec-Speed® Control is only available on Cherokee Trailhawk.
REAR AXLE DISCONNECT
The new Jeep® Cherokee is also the first mid-size SUV to feature rear-axle disconnect, resulting in reduced energy loss when 4x4 capability isn’t needed and improving fuel efficiency. The rear-axle disconnect seamlessly switches between two- and four-wheel drive for full-time torque management and does not require input from the driver.
