The rear of the 2014 Jeep® Grand Cherokee features new, larger taillamps with signature LED lighting, a larger rear spoiler to aid in aero-dynamics and a resculpted tailgate that offers greater rear visibility. The lower rear fascia is now model-specific and dual exhaust tips are standard on all Limited, Overland and Summit models.

The exceptional, new eight-speed automatic transmission provides better fuel
economy, quicker acceleration and smoother shifting. Fully electronic, the
eight-speed automatic features on-the-fly shift map changing, with manual shifting
capability using steering-wheel paddle controls. More than 40 individual shift maps
for specific conditions optimize shift quality and shift points for fuel economy,
performance and drivability. The software takes into account variables including
engine torque gradients, kick-down events, longitudinal and lateral acceleration,
grade changes, friction detection and downshift detection to determine the
appropriate shift map. Additional parameters integrated into the control strategy
include vehicle speed control, electronic stability control interaction and
temperature.The result is automatic shifting ideally attuned to the performance
requirements of almost any driving demand.

Blind spot monitoring
Blind Spot monitoring (BSM) uses dual radar sensors to monitor
driver blind spots.
Drivers will hear a chime and see an illuminated
icon on the mirrors when the BSM detects a vehicle that is too close.
Forward Collision Warning
The Forward Collision Warning with crash mitigation, using forward-facing radar sensors,
detects when the vehicle may be approaching another vehicle too rapidly and alerts the driver
so the driver can determine what action must be taken in order to prevent the vehicle
from a collision. If the system determines collision is imminent, the system:
- 1. Pre-fills the brake system
- 2. Alerts the driver with both audible and visual warning
- 4. Followed by 1.5 seconds of limited braking to give driver additional reaction time
- 5. If the driver is not braking enough Advanced Brake Assist (ABA) will increase the braking to avoid/mitigate the accident. It will not apply
any braking if the driver is not already braking. If the driver removes his foot from the brake ABA will cancel
